How to Include Alt Text to Images

The easiest method is to use the help feature and search for inserting alt text tags or conduct an internet search for using alt text tags with the software application title.

1. Define three main image types and uses -
For this requirement we have identified the following file formats to use for both the folio website and the poster design for this week.
JPEG (.jpg, .jpeg)
JPEG, which stands for Joint Photographic Experts Groups is a “lossy” format meaning that the image is compressed to make a smaller file. The compression does create a loss in quality but this loss is generally not noticeable. JPEG files are very common on the Internet and JPEG is a popular format for digital cameras - making it ideal for web use and non-professional prints. This file format is also very good for representing colour gradients and maintaining a small file size.
Compression: Lossy - some file information is compressed or lost
Best For: Web Images, Non-Professional Printing, E-Mail, Powerpoint
Special Attributes: Can choose amount of compression when saving in image editing programs like Adobe Photoshop or GIMP.
GIF (.gif)
GIF or Graphics Interchange Format files are widely used for web graphics, because they are limited to only 256 colors, can allow for transparency, and can be animated. GIF files are typically small is size and are very portable.
Compression: Lossless - compression without loss of quality
Best For: Web Images
Special Attributes: Can be Animated, Can Save Transparency
PNG (.png)
PNG or Portable Network Graphics files are a lossless image format originally designed to improve upon and replace the gif format. PNG files are able to handle up to 16 million colors, unlike the 256 colors supported by GIF.
Compression: Lossless - compression without loss of quality
Best For: Web Images
Special Attributes: Save Transparency

2. Identify royalty free and creative commons licensed images
For this requirement we have identified several copyright free image repositories as follows:
Some of these have been used to download images for this folio website.

1. https://pixabay.com/
2. https://pxhere.com
3. https://www.pexels.com/
4. https://stocksnap.io
5. https://unsplash.com/
3. Create digital image from scratch - Edited image by you
The digital image chosen was downloaded from pixabay as a copy rights free image.

4. Edit and publish image for learning - Logo designed by you
Poster design
As part of this poster website and poster development for this week I needed to create a logo that would suit the purpose of representing my own folio identity.

For this requirement I decided to develop a promotional poster design for this course.
It is developed and sponsored by my folio website, Learning Design, where you can see that this course is also the showpiece and focus as a multimedia resources site.

It seemed that this course is providing the tools and experience to navigate the varied media development tools and concepts to apply them with, and moving us in the
teaching profession from an old approach of delivery to a new and ever changing
dynamic environment.

My poster, although not immediately obvious, is an attempt to meld the old approach / tools and the new concepts that will allow us to be flexible and accommodating to new and exciting ways of delivering learning / instructional design.
