INTRODUCTION:

Welcome to my Learning Design Portfolio where I'll be recording the learning and content produced
in this course and the other Learning Design courses we have covered so far, IDT100x, IDT200x,
IDT300x, IDT400x.
This is a great way to also create a resource that I can use in the future.

My name is Sergio Montalban and have been a teacher, course designer and taught at all levels of education(Junior grades to Higher Ed). I am currently working in the School of Education, providing technical and educational support to technical staff, academics and teachers at Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology(RMIT University, Australia).

My commercial work and areas of specialisation are photography, design communication and interactive media design. I have also run a private interactive media business for the past 18 years and have combined educational and commercial skills to provide training, in private industry and as an
Adobe Trainer.

What I hope to gain from completing this course?
I've joined this course to maintain currency in my work and as part of our professional development at our University. I'm interested to learn about possible futures, as I can see, we are in a very exciting and rapidly changing period of time in educational. Incorporating technologies, developing and adapting learning theories to suit new and old tools of delivery is an area that I wish to focus on.

My learning theory background prior to taking this course?
I've been designing and delivering courses for different types of learners for a while and over time this process can be instinctual to some degree and you can become detached from, or loose awareness of, the current state of the core concepts and theories of learning. For me it's essential to maintain a life long learning approach, discovering and being excited by the changing possibilities of learning theories and how these are being applied by fellow educators around the world.

The two questions I have about learning theory?

-
What are the success stories around the world in democratising education with on-line technologies?
-
How have learning theories been applied or adapted to deliver on-line, on-time education models?
