Activity

The deliverable for this week is the declaration of your capstone project delivery.  This module presented you several options to consider and it also provided some suggestions you already might be using. In the forum, use the “Add a post” option and provide information that addresses the following critical elements:

1. Identify/Summarize how your capstone course will be deployed

2. Describe the functions necessary to execute your instructional design strategy

3. Summarize your experience with learning technology infrastructure elements

Declaration of Delivery - Sergio.M
1. Identify/Summarise how your capstone course will be deployed

I will be using Canvas LMS for my Capstone project. I am well acquainted with this system, although it's also a relatively easy LMS to understand for the novice user.

The module design will be based around the three Assessment components:
Component 1: Research report
Component 2: Personal photographic representation (Portraits x 2)
Component 3: Constructivist Poster design

The Canvas LMS weekly modules will have the following structure:

  • Weekly summary

  • Concept/instructional presentation

  • Resources

  • Weekly Discussion topics

  • Submission points

  • What's next

2. Describe the functions necessary to execute your instructional design strategy
Some of the main functions that the Canvas LMS provides are:

  • Efficient navigation system

  • Ability to provide differentiated working spaces(Student and group Communication tools, internal and external access of resources)

  • Easy-to-use content creation tools. Easy authoring tools for text, hyperlinks and graphics.

  • Web page editing with templates for content pages.

  • Information distribution including administrative information, Calendar, News & Course announcements.

  • Communication and collaboration functions for Asynchronous/ Synchronous collaborative learning

  • A variety of content creation tools(Preferably an expanding range)

  • Educational and technical online support for students

  • Assessment tools

  • Assessment submission points

3. Summarise your experience with learning technology infrastructure elements
As a teacher I have experienced delivering courses in several LMS tools. These include Moodle, BlackBoard and more recently in Canvas. My role has evolved from a face to face teacher in the area of multimedia design to a BlackBoard mentor, LMS Champion and now a Senior Learning Environment Technologist. I have used these tools as a student, teacher and now helping staff design courses for online delivery and Quality Assurance of online courses.
