AUDIO SCRIPT:
This script is an overview description of the beginnings of the Constructivist Art movement and is an adaptation / edited from the resources listed above.

Sentence 1.
The following brief description of the Constructivist Art movement can serve as a starting point for your investigations into the topic.

Sentence 2.
In the early 1920's, Soviet artists and designers attempted to put their talents to use for the new communist state. Most abandoned easel painting, even in its most radical forms, as too middle class, and turned instead to design. Despite being short-lived, the constructivist art movement has had a significant influence on the artistic movements that followed
.
Sentence 3.
Their slogan was "Art into Life" and their goal was, as Vladimir Tatlin put it, "to unite purely artistic forms with utilitarian intentions." In their most extreme formulations, the constructivists announced ... "Art is finished!

Sentence 4.
"It has no place in the human labor apparatus. Labor, technology, organization...that is the ideology of our time."
(For a full description of the constructivist manifestoes, see J.E. Bowlt, pp. 205-261)

Sentence 5.
Despite the apparently utilitarian or practical nature of the Constructivists', the majority of their projects were utopian in nature and aimed at perfection although they never reached a mass audience.

Sentence 6.
Constructivist Collage (1919)
One of the great artists of the Constructivist period, Alexander Rodchenko (1891-1956), was a student of both Kazimir Malevich and Vladimir Tatlin in the period just before the Revolution. His "Collage work" of the 1920's combined dynamic steep lines and geometrical shapes typical of Malevich's later Suprematist works with the use of different materials pioneered in Russia by Tatlin.

Sentence 7.
During the 1920s, Rodchenko became one of the leading constructivists, and turned away from painting to photography, furniture and poster design.

Sentence 8.
and in 1929, he designed costumes and sets for Meyerhold's production of Mayakovsky's play "The Bedbug".

Reflection:
The multimedia course being developed for in this module is primarily based on a constructivist educational theory and it aims to give students a very practical experience of the topics and processes being covered.
It's also being designed for a predominantly foreign student cohort with english as their second language. Based on this background, all resources developed need to be presented through a variety of multimedia elements.

Delivering the same message/information in varying types of formats has a higher rate of engagement and retention. Although this is the first time I have produced an audio narration, this introduction can also be presented alongside an info-graphic, a video and a face to face presentation which will provide a dynamic message before a practical exercise is introduced.

On reflection, this has been an eye opening exercise that has alerted me to the possibilities of presenting static info-graphics, images and complex information with supporting audio that will enhance the learning experience.
