ADOBE BRIDGE TO PHOTOSHOP

0:00:00.000,0:00:01.370

Opening images into Adobe Photoshop from Adobe Bridge

0:00:01.370,0:00:05.880

Hello this is Sergio Montalban

and in today's demonstration we're going

0:00:05.880,0:00:11.010

to look at Adobe bridge and how we can

open images into Photoshop for a much

0:00:11.010,0:00:15.960

more powerful way to navigate through

your media libraries during this course.

0:00:15.960,0:00:19.680

We will be opening many different types of

images and we'll need to navigate to

0:00:19.680,0:00:26.029

different areas of your computer so

let's have a look at Bridge now.

0:00:27.199,0:00:31.730

We'll firstly use the file open command

in order to navigate through the

0:00:31.730,0:00:36.920

operating system to open an image. This

is an easy and well-known way to open

0:00:36.920,0:00:40.850

files although it doesn't provide a lot

of choice when viewing different types

0:00:40.850,0:00:45.980

of information relating to the image.

I'll now use the file menu to open an

0:00:45.980,0:00:52.699

image in Adobe Bridge this is a separate

application and is bundled with the

0:00:52.699,0:00:56.540

Adobe Creative Cloud suite and you

should have access to it from your

0:00:56.540,0:01:02.750

computers. On the left hand side we can

see that I can navigate either using the

0:01:02.750,0:01:07.850

favorites or using the folders here I

can select a folder that I want to see

0:01:07.850,0:01:14.100

the contents of and those contents will

appear in the contents area to the right.

0:01:14.100,0:01:19.329

If I want to increase the size of the

thumbnail I can use the slider down at

0:01:19.329,0:01:24.880

the bottom when I click on an image I

get a large preview over here on the

0:01:24.880,0:01:29.770

right-hand side and I can click and drag

on any border between these different

0:01:29.770,0:01:34.990

panels. If I wanted to have a larger

preview of the image I can navigate to

0:01:34.990,0:01:39.579

other folders using the folder area and

if I wanted to move images I could

0:01:39.579,0:01:43.689

select any of them and then just drag

and drop them onto another folder to

0:01:43.689,0:01:46.890

move them on the hard drive.

0:01:47.380,0:01:53.740

We now select an image I can see its

information metadata keywords and also

0:01:53.740,0:01:57.210

filter images that I'm looking for.

0:02:02.979,0:02:09.340

To open the first image I'll right-click

on it and select Open with Photoshop.

0:02:09.340,0:02:15.099

I can now begin editing, once I'm

finished making edits to the image I can

0:02:15.099,0:02:20.230

close it and then use the file menu in

order to return to Bridge by selecting

0:02:20.230,0:02:23.489

Browse in Bridge.

0:02:26.209,0:02:31.819

If I decide not to open an image and I

want to return back to photoshop, I can

0:02:31.819,0:02:37.340

either use the file menu and then choose

Return to Adobe Photoshop, or I can click

0:02:37.340,0:02:40.450

the Boomerang icon.

0:02:44.050,0:02:48.970

So although you can use the operating

system to open your images, I find it to

0:02:48.970,0:02:56.980

be slower and not as visually rich of an

experience as using Adobe Bridge. I hope

0:02:56.980,0:03:00.850

this video has been useful and your

enjoying the creative process that comes

0:03:00.850,0:03:05.910

with acquiring these skills.

I'll see you next time.
