Course self evaluation:

The course evaluation rubric has been one of the most useful tools I have used in the process of designing an online course. I can see that it will be a staple of my design practice as it can be as stringent or as flexible as one needs it to be for different types of courses. It was also interesting that on my first assessment in week 6, I graded the course too highly as I thought that I'd have the time to develop all the aspects covered by this time.

The rubric has allowed me to think in more deliberate manner about the areas and the level of proficiency the course needs to meet. The lower current results, I believe, more accurately represent the state of the course as there are several areas that I'll need to update and further develop.

These are as follows:
Welcome Message & Course Introduction - 2 points
Course Media - 2 points
Bloom’s Taxonomy - 2 points
Copyright, Intellectual Property Laws - 2 points
Accessibility / UDL Principles - 2 point

I have also included short comments on each of the criteria that highlight the current deficiencies. It's also fortunate that I have already produced most of the work required, and will need to incorporate it into the structure of the course. Thanks for your help and guidance through this process and I'm looking forward to meeting you online.

Self assessment online rubric results - 33/39

I think this response is a fair assessment of the current state of the course and there are several areas the require improvement to reach a "Exceeds expectation" category.

The following need improvement:
1. Prerequisite course knowledge
2. Evaluated on a 1-3 point scale
3. Course media
4. Blooms taxonomy
5. Copyright
6. Accessibility
This is the third time that I have undertaken the project self assessment check and I find it surprising that I keep finding criteria deficiencies in the current course. This total score of 33/48 is lower than the first and second rating of the course. Which is possibly the whole point of it! I'm still learning to use and apply the rubric stated criteria. A very useful process! Thank you for your guidance.

Thank you for the course submission and all of the hard work that went into the development of it. I would agree the topic definitely presents a worthy learning experience to the audience you have identified.

I hope you consider the importance of the learning objectives in how they are constructed as they relate to the other content presented in the course, the depth of the content, and the alignment of what the learning experience will consist of.

I see many great assets from the program in this course including several design frameworks based on the evaluation criteria. The supporting documents you have developed are all in order and present a clear learning experience for the learners. Nice use of assets and media to enhance the layout and deepen the experience.

Thanks for all of the hard work you put into it and I appreciate all you have done for the cohort of users.

Congrats on completing the course.

Doug
